Sea to Summit Detour Camp Kitchen Range
AWARDS
Red Dot Award 2024 · IF Award 2024 · ISPO Award Winner 2024 · Good Design Award 2023
The Sea to Summit Detour range was developed to bring a more refined cooking and dining experience to vehicle-supported camping, where weight is less critical but space efficiency, durability and organisation remain essential.
The project explored what a complete camp kitchen could look like when designed as an integrated system rather than a collection of individual products. Cookware, dinnerware and utensils were developed together, with careful consideration given to how every component nests, packs and interacts with the rest of the range.
A major focus was achieving maximum storage efficiency without compromising the cooking experience. Stainless steel cookware provides the durability and familiarity of a home kitchen, while folding handles and carefully controlled geometries allow pots, pans, bowls, plates and utensils to pack into a significantly smaller footprint. Collapsible cookware further extends this approach, combining flexible construction with stainless steel bases suitable for conventional and induction cooking.
Vehicle travel introduced another important design challenge: noise and movement. Nesting interfaces, soft-touch components and considered material transitions help reduce rattling while protecting products during transport. These details also improve handling and comfort when the products are in use.
The resulting range establishes a consistent design language across cookware, tableware and utensils while providing the versatility, durability and quality of experience expected at home in a compact system designed for life on the road.
Key design considerations: system-based product architecture · compact nesting · rattle-free storage · stainless steel construction · collapsible cookware · folding handles · induction compatibility · intuitive one-handed operation · durable vehicle storage · integrated cookware, dinnerware and utensils
